This element is essential because it allows us to guarantee\u00a0<strong>environmental protection, electrical stability, communications security, and instrumentation maintenance<\/strong>\u00a0during long periods of autonomous operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>More than fifteen weather radars are located in major Spanish cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Physical infrastructure of an AEMET automatic station<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Concept of the technical cabin<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each automatic weather station incorporates a&nbsp;<strong>small technical enclosure or climate-controlled cabinet<\/strong>&nbsp;which acts as the station&#039;s control center. This room houses all the electronic systems responsible for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>data acquisition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>communications<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>power supply<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>equipment protection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>remote monitoring.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This enclosure is usually installed&nbsp;<strong>next to the sensor mast<\/strong>&nbsp;within the fenced enclosure of the meteorological garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Physical structure of the passenger compartment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Outdoor technical cabinet<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The passenger compartment usually consists of a&nbsp;<strong>watertight metal cabinet designed for outdoor use<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its main features include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>structure of&nbsp;<strong>galvanized steel or aluminum<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>corrosion protection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>degree of protection&nbsp;<strong>IP65 or higher<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>security locking system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Antennas are usually installed on a small mast or on the sensor mount itself to improve coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Electrical protection system<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Various protective elements are installed inside the cabinet:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>surge protection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>fuses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>magnetothermal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>protection against lightning strikes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These protections are especially important because the stations are usually installed in&nbsp;<strong>open areas exposed to thunderstorms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cable management<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sensor wiring is organized by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>internal
